My Story

Kimberly Vertrees discovered her passion for supporting older adults at just sixteen, when she began her career as a Certified Nurse’s Aide in a nursing home. After raising her son and earning a degree in special education, she spent many years running a before‑ and after‑school program for children in grades K–8. In 2008, she returned to senior care, driven by the belief that while children often have their parents to advocate for them, many seniors do not have anyone to do so— especially when family members live far away or loved ones have passed on.

Kim now serves as the Community Outreach Marketing Manager for Assisted Living Home Care Services, recently celebrating her third anniversary with the organization. She is dedicated to helping seniors and their families navigate in‑home care options, and when non‑medical home care isn’t the right fit, she guides them toward alternative solutions, always advocating on their behalf.

Deeply involved in the community, Kim is a past Assistant Cub Scout Master and American Legion Auxiliary member. Currently Kim is a committee member of the New Haven Area Senior Networking Group and Chair of the Hamden Regional Chamber’s Health & Wellness Council.

Born and raised in Connecticut, Kim enjoys reading, cooking, and visiting her family in Florida, where her adult son lives. At home, she spends time with her partner Paul — and the couple recently became proud kitten parents.
