Medical Drivers Needed!
IVCG is one of the only providers of free medical transportation in Connecticut and as such, we are a critical part of the medical infrastructure. Our medical drivers provide door through door transport for our clients, which involves picking them at home, taking them to their medical destinations, and then returning home. We don't drive for emergency purposes. To ensure the safety of both drivers and clients, all drivers must register with IVCG and go through criminal background and driving record checks. All registered volunteers are covered by CIMA liability coverage.
As our driver, you'll determine when and how often you're available; all we ask is that you commit to driving at least twice a month. You'll sign up for your rides using our online scheduling system, so you decide who, when and where to drive.
Call, email, or fill out the contact form on our website to get started. After a background check and a training session with one of our staff, you will be able to start driving for us.
Grocery Delivery Drivers Needed!
Every week, IVCG volunteers deliver free groceries to home-bound area seniors. As part of this program, you'll drive a route of 8-10 "stops" about once every 4 to 6 weeks. You'll come to St. Paul & St. James Church at Wooster Square in New Haven between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. on "your" Saturday - pick up your route list and groceries, and you're good to go! Please contact Jane to sign up to be part of this fun and rewarding program.
Friendly Visitors Needed!
If you're interested in making a new friend and bringing happiness to an older man or woman, please consider signing up to be a friendly visitor. This volunteer position entails committing to a weekly visit with a senior - you'll have fun listening to music, playing cards, looking at photographs and other activities that will help combat social isolation and bring joy to both of you. This volunteer position does involve the completion of a criminal background check and you'll need to be able to transport yourself to and from your person's home.
